Lake Norman Homebuilder Earns Three Industry Certifications

Troutman, N.C. – May 28, 2009– Geoffrey Bowen, owner and principle of EFC Builders, recently earned three building industry certifications. Bowen has earned the designations of Accredited Builder, Accredited Master Builder, and Certified Green Professional.

Bowen is in the first class of graduates of Lake Norman Home Builders Association since it launched its education programs in early 2008. The designations of Accredited Builder and Accredited Master Builder were awarded to Bowen after completion of 120 hours of course work over a one year period. The intensive series of education classes range in subject matter from accounting, law, computer systems, business planning, customer service and construction project management.

Additionally, the National Association of Home Builders has recognized Bowen with the designation of Certified Green Professional after Bowen completed specific course work related to green building practices and processes.

These designations are recognized by the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors, and put Bowen in an elite group of North Carolina home builders who have these accreditations.

Bowen, the qualifying party for EFC Builders’ general contractor license, also has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from General Motors Institute of Engineering and a master’s in business administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

EFC Builders was recently honored with three top awards in Best of the Lake Design Competition hosted by Lake Norman Home Builders Association.
