PROJECT GALLERIES
KITCHEN RENOVATION PROJECT 1:
BIG–LIGHT-OPEN-IMPRESSIVE was the owners’ vision for their kitchen renovation. The original kitchen was too small and too enclosed for entertaining. The original kitchen had inexpensive materials and was not at all what one would expect of a million-dollar lake home. The wife not only is a gourmet cook but she also needs a workable home office space.

KITCHEN RENOVATION PROJECT 2:
While the existing kitchen was quite large and nice, the new homeowners really did not like it. Their key objection to the existing layout was that the kitchen was “closed”, i.e. cabinetry blocked direct access to the adjoining great room. The new cabinetry is laid out in a way that allows for maximum cooking and prep flow, while remaining open to adjoining spaces.

OUTDOOR ENTERTAINING PROJECT 1:
The owners wanted to add outdoor living spaces to expand their “living” and entertaining options. It was important to achieve some “screening” from the neighbors. The owners specifically desired the addition to have some interesting angles (not a square “box”), and they wanted the completed project to look like it had always been part of the home design (not like an addition).

OUTDOOR ENTERTAINING PROJECT 2:
This young family wanted to take advantage of living on Lake Norman. Having EFC Builders complete their kitchen renovation many years ago, they turned to EFC again to create amazing 3-level outdoor living spaces. On the uppermost level, they have a private porch off the master bedroom. Expansive water views are found from the middle level with an uncovered deck for casual dining at the lowest point of the addition. They particularly love the cable railing which gives the unobstructed lake views.

WHOLE HOUSE RENOVATION 1:
The owner grew up in this 1960’s brick ranch house situated on a 50+ acre working family farm. She later inherited it and wanted to maintain it as a second family home. Her two boys enjoy the farm home more than their multi-million dollar west-coast residence. The owner wanted modern amenities incorporated into the renovation but wanted to keep the old feel that she grew up with. All her family memories and her childhood experiences are in this home and on this property. Because she is so nostalgic, part of the design challenge was to include specific furniture pieces and built-in items from the original home.

WHOLE HOUSE RENOVATION 2:
The overall renovation design was set to be three phases in order to fund the project, since the customer had a second home to sell in a declining market. The goals of this extensive renovation were to take a water-front house with “good bones” and small broken-up rooms and convert it to a warm, comfortable home that is suitable for frequent casual entertaining. The greatest challenge by far in this home renovation was that the customer lived in the home during all phases of construction.
