Builder of the Year Announced
Troutman, N.C. – September 21, 2010 – EFC Builders has been named the 2010 Distinguished Builder Member of the Year by the North Carolina Home Builders Association (NCHBA) at the annual STARS Awards Gala held at the Hilton Charlotte Center City hotel in Charlotte on September 15th. In addition, EFC Builders was also honored with 2010 Best Special Project: Outdoor Living Spaces.
Each year the NCHBA honors the achievements of the industry’s best from the Carolinas in categories from marketing to merchandising as well as new home and renovation construction projects. Entries come from members of the 65 home builder associations across North Carolina as well as South Carolina. The 2010 evening awards ceremony culminated with the announcement of its top honor, 2010 Distinguished Builder Member of the Year, to EFC Builders-Geoff and Deborah Bowen. EFC Builders was nominated for the top award by their employees, suppliers, subcontractors, and business partners.
Mike Carpenter, executive vice president of the NCHBA stated, “From building industry accomplishments to community impact to peer respect, the EFC Builders team exemplifies the best of home builders everywhere.”
Each year one home builder is selected for the STARS Distinguished Builder Member of the Year based upon leadership in the home building industry and community service involvement. The STARS judges specifically cited the Bowens’ many years of service in the Lake Norman Home Builders Association, their on-going volunteer efforts for the Hope House Foundation, and their passion for Rotary’s community and international service. Deborah Bowen was a founding member and charter President of the Rotary Club of Top of the Lake-Mooresville while Geoff Bowen is a charter member and president-elect of the Rotary Club of Troutman.
The company also received first place in the STARS Outdoor Living Spaces category for the transformation of a Davidson family home. They added two levels of living and entertaining space to the rear of the home including two screened porches, an upper level deck with large hot tub and summer kitchen, and lower level paver patio with benches and a fire pit.
Over the years EFC Builders has also won numerous awards for their new homes and renovation building projects by the Lake Norman Home Builders Association (LNHBA) via its annual Best of the Lake Design Competition and Parade of Homes. In 2005 Deborah Bowen was named by the LNHBA as Builder Volunteer of the Year in addition to several other leadership awards.
The LNHBA membership director, Sandra Wallace, stated “This is such a well deserved award.” She went on to say, “I work with Geoff and Deborah on a regular basis and have never met another couple with such high standards and integrity, and this is demonstrated time and time again. They are exemplary.”
