Builder Receives First-Ever Gold Star Award

Troutman, N.C. – November 27, 2006 – The Lake Norman Home Builders Association (LNHBA) recently honored Deborah Bowen, vice president and co-owner of EFC Builders, with its first-ever Gold Star Award. The award recognizes outstanding commitment in three areas:  volunteer and community involvement, leadership and continuing industry-related education.

Presenting the award at the Association’s dinner meeting held at the Charles Mack Citizens Center in Mooresville, President Brian Robinett said, “Deborah has gone above and beyond the norm of a Lake Norman Home Builder Association member. More importantly, she also has clearly demonstrated an outstanding commitment in her efforts to reach out to the Lake Norman community.”

The Gold Star Award was created in 2005 by the LNHBA Education Committee to foster continued industry-related education and honor those individuals who make a significant contribution through his or her dedication, vision and leadership to the association as well as to the Lake Norman community. However, this is the first time it has been awarded.

Bowen has also been recognized in the past for numerous contributions to the home building industry. In February 2006, the LNHBA presented her with three distinct awards: 2005 Builder Volunteer of the YearThe National Association Home Builders’ Spike Club Award and the 2005 Leadership Award.

In addition to receiving the Gold Star award, Bowen and her husband Geoff, owners of EFC Builders, received two awards in the Best of the Lake Design Competition.
